Lehmann Maupin signs Rana Begum for global representation

Lehmann Maupin now represents Bangladeshi-British artist Rana Begum, whose practice merges sculpture, painting, and architecture through light and color. The gallery will debut her work at Art Basel in June 2026, followed by her first solo New York exhibition in September. Begum had a landmark 2025 with her U.S. museum debut 'Reflection' at SCAD Museum of Art, Savannah, which traveled to Vero Beach, Florida. Upcoming large-scale public commissions include installations at Kew Gardens, Wakehurst, Towner Gallery (Eastbourne, UK), and Climate Clock (Oulu, Finland). Her work draws on geometric abstraction, Islamic art, and industrial materials, creating meditative, light-responsive pieces. Begum has exhibited at Pitzhanger Manor, Pallant House Gallery, Kettle’s Yard, Whitechapel Gallery, Tate St Ives, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (permanent installation since 2024). She participated in Desert X 2023, Gwangju Biennial 2016, and Taipei Biennial 2026. Her work is held in collections including MFA Boston, Samdani Art Foundation, Farjam Foundation, Ashmolean Museum, Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, and Wanas Konst. She was elected a Royal Academician in 2020. Co-founder David Maupin noted her work expands abstraction and minimalism globally, aligning with artists like Teresita Fernández, Liza Lou, and Shirazeh Houshiary.
