Le Grand-Espace Opens in Sherbrooke as Flexible Performance Venue by Atelier Paul Laurendeau and NEUF architect(e)s
A new cultural venue, Le Grand-Espace, has opened in Sherbrooke, Canada, expanding the cultural offerings of the Eastern Townships tourist region. The project was designed by Atelier Paul Laurendeau and NEUF architect(e)s, with Paul Laurendeau serving as design architect. The building encompasses 1,370 m² and was completed in 2025. At its core is a flexible performance hall capable of hosting a wide range of artistic disciplines, including theater, dance, circus arts, and productions aimed at young audiences. The architectural team was supported by a group of specialized consultants: Latéral-DWB handled civil and structural engineering, Dupras Ledoux provided mechanical and electrical engineering, Trizart Alliance served as theater consultant, and Light Factor was responsible for lighting consulting. The project falls within the cultural architecture and performing arts categories. Photography of the completed building was carried out by Maxime Brouillet and Félix Michaud. The project description was submitted by the design team. Curated by Susanna Moreira for ArchDaily, the Spanish-language feature directs readers to the original English version. By adding a multipurpose performance venue to Sherbrooke, Le Grand-Espace aims to strengthen the region's cultural infrastructure and accommodate diverse live arts programming under one roof.
