Le Grand Café Brings Contemporary Brasserie Fare to Paris's Grand Palais
Le Grand Café, a venue by Loulou Groupe, is situated within the Grand Palais of Paris, a Beaux-Arts structure originally constructed for the 1900 Universal Exhibition, which now hosts Chanel fashion shows and global art fairs. Alexandre Rossoz, the managing director, highlights that the building was initially meant to be temporary but has lasted over a century. The interior, designed by architect Joseph Dirand, features reseda green beams that echo the steel framework and terrace seating below marble statues. Guests are served seafood towers and steak tartare by staff in white jackets amid terracotta velvet banquettes. The brasserie menu, considered a monument of French culture, includes dishes like roasted langoustines with lemongrass and a tomato tart that returned after guest demand. The bar serves classic cocktails, focusing on lesser-known wine regions. Opened last year, the dining room is designed to feel timeless, according to Rossoz.
