Laurent Troost Architectures and Hana Eto Gall Complete Pupunha House in Manaus

architecture-design · 2026-10-06

Laurent Troost Architectures, in collaboration with landscape designer Hana Eto Gall, has completed Casa Pupunha, a 230 m² residence in a condominium in the western zone of Manaus, Brazil. Finished in 2023, the project is sited next to a permanently protected environmental area and was guided by the preservation of existing greenery. The house takes its name from a pupunha palm at the center of the lot, which was retained throughout construction. Hana Eto Gall's landscaping, conceived in direct dialogue with the Amazonian landscape, incorporates the palm and other plants as integral to both the garden and the architectural concept. Photographs of the project were taken by Joana França. The design team included Laurent Troost, with interiors by Chris Coimbra, structural and complementary design by engineer Silvio Heimbecker, and construction by Helena Rabello and Daniel Herszon. A model was produced by Lucila Melgueiro and Bareporanga. The project was curated by Susanna Moreira and published on ArchDaily.
