Latvian Artist Anita Rozentale Explores Memory and Identity Through Conceptual Works

Latvian multidisciplinary artist Anita Rozentale creates conceptual artworks that examine themes of memory and identity. Born in 1990, she combines drawing, painting, photography, and cyanotype techniques, blending analog and digital methods to question photography's reliability in representing reality. Rozentale's work highlights how cultural, historical, and social backgrounds shape personal identity. She produces surreal, suspended scenarios through layering, erasure, and recomposition, prompting viewers to reflect on distinctions between reality and constructed fiction. Rozentale earned a Fine Arts degree from Southampton Solent University and a master's from Glasgow School of Art. She currently lives and works between Latvia and the United Kingdom, with her pieces held in private collections across the UK, Germany, Austria, Latvia, Switzerland, and the United States.
