Latencia: Five Mexican Artists Explore Memory at Casa de México

At Casa de México in Madrid, the group exhibition 'Latencia' brings together five Mexican artists—Knut Pani, Perla Krauze, Cristóbal Ascencio, Andrea Bores, and Flor Pandal—whose works engage with memory through material, conceptual, or combined approaches. Curated by Karmele Rodríguez Larragain, the show runs from June 18 to August 30, 2026. Knut Pani, a former collaborator of Mathias Goeritz and founder of the workshop 'El pez voluble', presents abstract canvases where pigment acts dynamically. Andrea Bores works in layers and glazes, referencing geological sedimentation; her piece 'El borde del mar' uses aniline dye and wild cotton. Cristóbal Ascencio contributes a manipulated photograph from his series 'Las flores mueren dos veces' and a textile from 'Palimpsesto', which weaves corrupted images from Ithaca with fragments of the Odyssey. Perla Krauze offers charcoal frottages of pavement marks on stone slabs, exploring urban memory. Flor Pandal creates artist books on leaves as a result of introspective processes. The exhibition is part of a broader summer program that also includes 'Espectros. Enigmas de la mirada' within PHotoESPAÑA.
