Las Honorarias Turn Santiago's Gabriela Mistral Gallery Into a Fictional Office of Waiting
The Chilean group Las Honorarias, consisting of Roery Herrera and Loreto Muñoz, has launched the Registro Nacional de Espera at Galería Gabriela Mistral in Santiago, presenting a fictional public entity. Their digital platform, registronacionaldeespera.cl, gathers data on waiting periods throughout Chile, divided into categories such as salud, transporte, vivienda, and educación. An LED screen showcases statistics, while a printer inside records the experiences of participants. The space is adorned with recycled materials and makeshift furniture, emphasizing waiting as a social stratification tool. This initiative expands on their earlier explorations of labor conditions, critiquing achievement culture, unpaid work, and capitalist realism. The exhibition is open until 7 November 2026 at Alameda 1381, Santiago.
