Largest Native North American art exhibition in Britain opens at Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Yorkshire Sculpture Park has unveiled "Hold to This Earth," the most extensive display of contemporary Native North American art ever presented in the UK. Featuring pieces from the Tia Collection in Santa Fe, the exhibition represents more than 35 tribal nations. Curated by Sarah Coulson, it coincides with the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in the United States, serving as a counter-narrative to colonial history. The showcased artists confront pressing contemporary challenges, such as environmental issues, Indigenous history, and the connection between humanity and nature. Coulson highlights the relevance of these works, as they address significant current topics, marking an important milestone for Native North American art in Britain.
