Land Rover Unveils All-Electric Range Rover Sport with Record Torque

other · 2026-09-02

Land Rover has revealed the Range Rover Sport Electric, a battery-powered version of its smaller SUV, just weeks after introducing the Range Rover Electric. The new model delivers 542 hp and 627 ft lbs of torque from dual 260 kW motors, exceeding the torque of any previous Range Rover Sport and providing 50 percent quicker torque delivery than the gas-powered variant. Despite this, it accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds, over half a second slower than the Range Rover Sport SV. A 118.5 kWh battery pack, shared with the Range Rover Electric, yields a claimed 378-mile range on the WLTP cycle; the EPA estimate is expected to be around 333 miles. Charging can add 136 miles in 10 minutes or go from 10 to 80 percent in 20 minutes. Visually, the EV is nearly identical to its combustion counterpart, with only minor aerodynamic tweaks to the grille, underbody, and wheels. The interior remains unchanged. Thanks to a shorter wheelbase (the standard Range Rover Electric is four inches longer, the long-wheelbase a foot longer), all-wheel steering, and an adaptive suspension with active roll control, the Sport Electric promises sharper handling. It is slated to launch in the U.S. next year as a 2028 model, with U.K. pricing starting at £109,810 (about $145,000); U.S. pricing has not been announced.
