Lady Egg: From Philadelphia Sculpture to Phoenix Hyperpop Studio

Lady Egg, an interdisciplinary artist based in Phoenix, works out of the historic Bragg’s Pie Factory on Grand Avenue. She combines bright, colorful paintings with sculptures, recycled streetlights, and quirky oversized eggs. Originally from rural Pennsylvania, she studied sculpture at Tyler School of Art and Architecture in Philadelphia. During the 2020 pandemic lockdown, she made a bold move by deleting her entire seven-year Instagram archive at 3 a.m., which sparked her egg-themed artworks. Starting with the phrase “egg on my face,” she created egg portraits, including one of Tom from Myspace. Her playful pieces also feature sunny-side up eggs on Tempe fences for a public art project in 2023 and a hard-boiled egg with a mischievous face for her upcoming 2025 residency in Colorado. Lady Egg's work celebrates queer identity, drawing inspiration from Elliot Page’s memoir, Pageboy, and the lack of role models. She believes that artists thrive by pushing boundaries and existing in society's gray areas. Her 2026 painting, There Are No Atheists in Foxholes, highlights her unique materials, while her installation 1-800-CRYBABY was showcased at Central Arts Market in downtown Phoenix.
