Lacy Steps: A Sunken Garden by TROP in Shanghai

The Lacy Steps project, finalized in 2024 by TROP: terrains + open space and spearheaded by Pok Kobkongsanti, has transformed a space in the Yanlord Arcadia community of Shanghai. This innovative 590-square-meter sunken garden, envisioned by designer Han Shuang, effectively connects essential areas such as the lobby, residential buildings, and clubhouse. The design concept, highlighting a 'garden within gardens,' turns a transit corridor into an engaging social hub with diverse thematic landscapes that enhance the integration of nature into urban living. The project team featured multiple contributors, supported by architectural and interior design firms, alongside photography by Chill Shine.
