LACMA Tours Highlight Queer Artists in Modern Art Collection

LACMA is hosting Visible and Vibrant: LGBTQ+ Artists in LACMA’s Collection tours on June 12 and June 26, 2026, exploring queer histories in the Modern Art Galleries. The tours feature works by Frida Kahlo, Beauford Delaney, David Hockney, Alice Rahon, and Ellsworth Kelly. Kahlo's "Weeping Coconuts" (1951) reflects her bisexuality and disability. Delaney's portrait of Claude McKay (1944) connects to Harlem Renaissance queer figures. Hockney's "California Copied From 1965 Painting in 1987" depicts gay life in Los Angeles. Rahon's "Juggler" (1946) embodies her bisexuality and independence. Kelly's "Blue Curve III" (1972) expands notions of queer art. The tours are free with admission and are the last of the season before fall.
