Lablanca transforms narrow Badalona apartment with continuous yellow furniture piece

In the historic center of Badalona, architecture studio Lablanca, led by Jordi Ribas and Mònica Piqué, has completed the renovation of a 90-square-meter apartment in a 1960s party-wall building. The project, named Riera, transforms the limitations of a narrow, elongated floor plan into its main virtue through a continuous volume of variable thickness that concentrates storage, installations, wet cores, and service spaces. This yellow furniture piece acts as the backbone of the intervention, liberating the rest of the floor plan and creating a sequence of thresholds. The apartment integrates a music production studio without disrupting the balance between private life and work. Bedrooms are located on the main facade for quiet rest, while the kitchen, living room, and studio occupy the rear facade for better natural light. Materials include continuous microcement flooring and ceramic tiles in the kitchen and bathrooms. The color palette is deliberately restrained. Photographs by Simone Marcolin.
