La Capella Barcelona presents three exhibitions exploring materiality and transformation

La Capella in Barcelona, as part of Barcelona Producció 2026, presents three exhibitions that examine matter, space, and transformation through different artistic languages. Ana Martínez Fernández's 'La Mancha más ciega' in the central nave uses industrial adhesive vinyl printed with a wood texture to create a walkable structure that disrupts the gothic building's longitudinal perspective, questioning architectural codes. Xavier Lozano (Heeey) presents 'Totxana' in the Rampa space, a participatory sculpture where visitors move bricks according to rules, generating ever-changing configurations. The work references urban fragility and the instability of cities under economic and political pressures. Loana Flores' 'Llenguatges materials' in the vestibule, curated by Gisela Chillida within the Concèntric program with EART, showcases a growing archive of biomaterials made from organic waste and discarded materials since 2018. The installation forms a material constellation, drawing on ecological thought and authors like Bruno Latour and Yayo Herrero. All three exhibitions share a focus on processes of transformation, using architecture, programming, and material experimentation to rethink how we build spaces and relationships.
