L/O (KATATA YOSHISHITO DESIGN) Designs Tojiro Knife Gallery "Hanare" in Tokyo
L/O (KATATA YOSHISHITO DESIGN) has completed the Tojiro knife gallery "Hanare" in Tokyo, a 30 m² commercial interior project slated for 2026. Katata Yoshishito served as principal architect, Miwa Negoro curated the project, and Keishin Horikoshi / SS photographed it. The gallery is conceived as a place to find one's true knife: a Tojiro blade is not a simple product but a tool used for decades, sharpened, repaired, and grown alongside its owner. Choosing a knife is therefore framed not as an act of comparison but of time — the time needed to find the single blade one will live with. The Tojiro flagship store invites visitors to enter the brand's universe, compare the full range, and find a knife to their measure, while discovering through resharpening and maintenance the culture of keeping a knife for life and the history behind Japanese blade making. The most personalized commissions — one-off pieces, semi-custom and fully custom knives — demanded a different kind of environment, which the Hanare project provides. The project falls under the Commercial Interiors category.
