Kunstverein Siegen Explores the Paravent as Spatial Threshold

Kunstverein Siegen presents 'The Paravent is an Object of the In-Between,' an exhibition examining the paravent as a mobile, permeable element that divides and connects space. Drawing on Edward Soja's concept of 'Thirdspace,' the show positions space as emerging through perception, movement, and social relations rather than as a fixed order. Featured artists include Kasia Fudakowski (b. 1985, London; lives in Berlin), whose series 'Continuouslessness' (since 2017) creates endless sequences of paravents addressing bureaucracy, language, migration, and dependency; David Douard (b. 1983, Perpignan; lives in Aubervilliers), who constructs permeable membrane-like sculptures from cables, textiles, and plexiglass that evoke fragile digital and urban infrastructures; and Georgina Hill (b. 1986, Worcester, UK; lives in London), who transforms architectural elements like room dividers into poetic configurations exploring memory, intimacy, and cultural coding.
