Kunstmuseum Bern Announces 2027 Season with Franz Marc and Camille Bombois Retrospectives

exhibition · 2026-10-21

The Kunstmuseum Bern has outlined a 2027 exhibition programme built around animal imagery, heightened reality and immersive technology. Opening the year is the first comprehensive Swiss presentation of Franz Marc's paintings, running from 26 February to 4 July. Marc (1880–1916) treated animals as vessels of existential meaning, an approach embodied in vividly coloured works such as a blue horse, a yellow cow and a purple fox. The museum's first exhibition devoted to immersive digital art, titled Digital Worlds, forms a second strand of the season. In autumn, the Kunstmuseum Bern stages the first major Swiss showing of the French artist Camille Bombois. Three thematic focuses drawn from the museum's own collection complete the programme. The institution frames the year as an invitation to enter pictorial universes of remarkable diversity.
