Kunstmuseum Basel Showcases Roy Lichtenstein's Graphic Works

From August 22, 2026, to March 14, 2027, Kunstmuseum Basel will present 'Roy Lichtenstein. Sweet Dreams, Baby!', featuring approximately fifty graphic pieces by the renowned pop artist, many of which have not been displayed before. This exhibition emphasizes Lichtenstein's expertise in printmaking, showcasing thirty-three works that were donated by the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation in 2023. It includes early prints from the late 1940s and 1950s, along with later collaborations with Gemini Graphic Editions, Tyler Graphics, and Graphicstudio. Key works include 'Retrato' (1989), 'The Sower' (1985), 'Wallpaper with Blue Floor Interior' (1992), 'Despair' (1963), and 'Mirror No. 2' (1970). Born in New York, Lichtenstein embraced pop art in the 1960s, characterized by his use of benday dots.
