Kron Technologies Unveils Chronos Q12 High-Speed Camera with 7,471 FPS Capture

Kron Technologies, a Canadian high-speed imaging company based in the Greater Vancouver area, has announced the Chronos Q12, a camera capable of reaching 7,471 frames per second at reduced resolution. The Q12 pairs an APS-C-sized sensor with a 9 μm pixel pitch and a native 2,560 by 2,016 pixel resolution, where it records 2,313 FPS; cropping to 2,560 by 1,440 lifts that to 3,116 FPS, while Full HD (1,920 by 1,080) reaches 5,148 FPS and 1,536 by 864 tops out at 7,471 FPS. Bit depth varies with speed: 8-bit at 2,313 FPS, 10-bit at 1,900 FPS, and 12-bit capped at 975 FPS. Storage demands are steep — 5.7 seconds at maximum resolution consumes 64GB, and 11.5 seconds consumes 128GB. Recording options include RAW (CinemaDNG), H.264, H.265, and timestamped TIFF sequences. A 5-inch touchscreen handles most operations, supplemented by a single rear jog wheel. An interchangeable passive mount accepts C-, E-, F-, EF-, PL-, and Micro Four Thirds-mount lenses, though buyers must choose one at purchase. The kit includes the body, mounting plate, lens shim kit, and multi-mount bracket, but no battery; power comes from an included 90W DC supply. Kron Technologies positions the Q12 for researchers, engineers, scientists, industrial professionals, and creative teams needing to capture and analyze events too fast for conventional imaging. Pricing starts at $19,995 USD for the 64GB configuration and $21,995 USD for 128GB, sold directly by the company.
