KRADS Studio designs lakeside retreat for musicians in Iceland

KRADS Studio has completed a modern residence on the shores of Lake Þingvallavatn in southwest Iceland, commissioned by Danish singer-songwriter Tina Dickow and Icelandic multi-instrumentalist Helgi Jónsson. The house features large openings framing views of the lake and Skjaldbreið mountain to the north, and a southwest-facing terrace overlooking Jórutindur and Hátindur peaks. Its grass- and moss-covered roof blends into the surrounding forest, while concrete foundations on three staggered levels follow the terrain's natural slope. Interior finishes use restrained color palettes to emphasize the landscape. The project was a collaboration between the architects and the musicians, who contributed ideas from the outset.
