Koto's Haku Suite: Mobile Prefab Cabin Redefines Hotel Accommodation

Koto, a UK-based architecture firm, has introduced Haku, a completely mobile prefabricated cabin designed to serve as a luxurious hotel suite. The initial Haku units have been set up at the Denton Estate in Yorkshire, equipped with a wood-burning stove and a rain-shower bathroom. Each cabin measures 9.74m in length, 3.60m in width, and 3.85m in height, resting on a wheeled chassis that qualifies it as a caravan under the Caravan Sites Act 1968. This status allows it to bypass UK planning regulations, enabling placement in restricted areas without the need for concrete foundations, leaving no environmental impact upon removal. The timber-framed design features an organic façade made of expanded cork. Koto provides complete furnishings, ensuring a ready-to-use hospitality experience with rapid delivery. Prices begin at £80,000 per suite for on-grid options and £90,000 off-grid when ordering 15 units, with a tiered pricing model for staggered deployments. Co-founder Johnathon Little states, “Haku embodies the same philosophy as all Koto projects, liberated from a fixed location. The focus is on where it can be situated: in clearings, on a shelf above water, or on untouched estate land. [It is] architecture that finds its place.” Haku is now accessible to hotels, estates, and landowners.
