kooo architects Designs Salomon Minami-Aoyama Store in Tokyo for 2026
A narrow alley in Minami-Aoyama extends straight into the basement level of the building housing the Salomon Minami-Aoyama store, a 135 m² commercial interior project by kooo architects scheduled for completion in 2026. Shinya Kojima led the design team, which also included Ayaka Kojima, KangXin Wu and Keita Kogure. Amer Sports Japan is the client and also appears among the project's suppliers alongside Tachibana Shoten, while Hakusuisha Inc. served as consultant. Photographs were taken by Keishin Horikoshi / SS, and the project was curated by HAN Shuang. The architects describe Minami-Aoyama as an ideal location for Salomon, a brand they characterize as bridging urban lifestyle and outdoor culture, because the district sits at the intersection of city sophistication and the street culture of Harajuku and Ura-Harajuku. The site's unusual quality is that the alley appears to flow directly into the building's interior, producing a space that feels slightly exterior even though it is in the middle of the city. The project falls under the commercial interiors category.
