Kodak Apparel Expands Seoul Retail Footprint with Dosan Studio Opening
Kodak Apparel has launched its eighth retail outlet in Seoul, situated in Dosan Studio within the Gangnam District, known for its association with K-pop star Psy. The brand, which derives its name from the Rochester-based film company, shared the news on Instagram, highlighting the store's design inspired by 'Kodak Express' and its photo studio aesthetic. This location offers 35mm film, developing and printing services, and a variety of merchandise such as T-shirts, bags, caps, flags, hoodies, shoes, pillows, sweatpants, lab coats, and travel bags. Previously, seven stores have opened in Seongsu, Myeongdong, Hongdae, Gwangjang Market, and Bukchon. This expansion aligns with the 'newtro' trend, which merges contemporary and vintage styles, similar to the arrival of National Geographic Apparel in Seoul and fashion lines for Pan Am, Lockheed Martin, and CNN. According to The New York Times, Kodak's licensing agreements are expected to yield $20 million in revenue in 2024, a modest portion of the company's approximately $1 billion total revenue, yet it signifies a growing market appealing to trendy Gen Z consumers in Korea. Earlier this year, a Kodak Apparel pop-up was established in Hong Kong, featuring iconic photo booths and Kodak-branded clothing. Photos are attributed to Kodak Apparel.
