Kinzo Architekten proposes 100-meter outdoor pool for Berlin's Tilla-Durieux-Park
Kinzo Architekten has unveiled a proposal to transform the 485-meter-long Tilla-Durieux-Park in Berlin into a year-round recreational destination centered on a 15-by-100-meter outdoor swimming pool. The pool, designed as an urban canal with lap lanes and timber decks, aims to activate the underused public space adjacent to Potsdamer Platz. The scheme, called 'proximity activation,' includes padel and basketball courts, beach volleyball, a calisthenics area, a water playground, and a tree grove with a communal table. A translucent membrane canopy with curved timber ribs would enclose the pool in winter, allowing year-round use. Kinzo also envisions a future pedestrian bridge connecting the park to the Landwehr Canal and Park am Gleisdreieck, closing a gap in Berlin's north-south green corridor.
