Kinks of Berlin: KitKatClub Documentary Premieres in Cinemas

Philipp Fussenegger's black-and-white documentary 'Kinks of Berlin' offers unprecedented access to Berlin's KitKatClub, a fetish club founded in 1994 by erotic film director Simon Thaur and Kirsten Krüger. The film, which received the club's first-ever filming permission, portrays regulars and performers such as drag artist Raven van Krueger, bodypainting artist Hottie, and BDSM couple Vici and Marvin as ordinary people, demystifying the fetish scene. However, the documentary omits recent controversies, including allegations of sexual assault and discrimination at the club, and the fact that Rammstein frontman Till Lindemann partied there undisturbed after accusations against him. Fussenegger intended the film as a homage, but it fails to address crucial questions about consent, bodily autonomy, and safe spaces.
