Kim Gordon and Suzanne Lindon Star in Claire Denis's Miu Miu Short 'Avec Kim'

At the Venice Film Festival, Miu Miu Women's Tales premiered 'Avec Kim', a short film directed by Claire Denis, starring musician Kim Gordon and actor-director Suzanne Lindon. The film, which has no dialogue, follows a young woman (Lindon) driving around Paris in a retro Ford, encountering surreal situations before meeting an older woman (Gordon) at the Fontaine des Lions. It explores intergenerational female friendship, echoing the real-life bond between Denis and Lindon, who collaborated on Denis's recent feature 'The Fence'. Gordon, known for Sonic Youth, had previously acted in films by Todd Haynes and Gus Van Sant. Denis, an 80-year-old French auteur famed for works like 'Beau Travail', rarely makes shorts, making this a notable event. The film features costumes from Miu Miu's spring 2026 collection, including a crystal-embroidered trapper hat worn by Gordon. In an interview with Vogue, Gordon and Lindon discussed their experiences: Lindon learned to drive in two weeks for the role, while Gordon contributed to the score, inspired by Neil Young's approach. The project was spearheaded by Miuccia Prada and Verde Visconti, and the series has previously included directors like Agnès Varda and Ava DuVernay. The film premiered on September 3, 2024, at the Venice Film Festival.
