KiefferWoodtli’s AXES Opens at Alvarez Chida in Mexico City

exhibition · 2026-06-24

New York-based Swiss duo KiefferWoodtli (Sara Kieffer and Lucien Woodtli) present their first Mexico City exhibition, AXES, at Alvarez Chida gallery's Espacio Báltico through July 27, 2026. Curated by Arantza Hernandez, the show uses the ellipse as a structural model to explore orientation without a fixed center. Works include Cave, an immersive elliptical installation with a crystallized textile skin and a light-sound environment tracking the sun's path via NASA data; Pendulum sculptures with metal arcs, wax discs, and volcanic stone; Resonance Studies, red-wire diagrams on handmade paper; and heliosPlates, a grid of thirty solar charts. The industrial hall in Nextitla is treated as a field, with works spaced to create gravitational zones. Photography by Celeste Oka.
