Kibble Recreations of Mona Lisa, The Scream, and The Kiss at AKC Museum of the Dog
"The Art of the Breed," an exhibition at the AKC Museum of the Dog in Midtown Manhattan, showcases renowned artworks recreated using dog kibble and will be on display until June 9. Sisters Lauren and Samantha Treadwell from Old Bridge, New Jersey, partnered with Royal Canin to create these unique pieces. Among the selected masterpieces are Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa, Edvard Munch's The Scream, Johannes Vermeer's Girl With a Pearl Earring, and Gustav Klimt's The Kiss. The artists dedicated around 60 days to painting, arranging, and preserving the kibble while keeping it away from their dog, Charlie. The exhibit also features an original corgi portrait. Laura Ratliff from TimeOut New York remarked that the artworks appear like traditional paintings from afar, but up close, the kibble's texture and shading reveal their intricate design. The museum, which reopened in 2019, has previously showcased exhibitions on various canine themes. Dogs can visit on Fridays and special occasions, but only service animals are allowed at other times.
