The Chapman Residence, a redwood-clad organic modernist home by architect Kendrick Bangs Kellogg, has been listed for sale at $4.75 million in Solana Beach, San Diego County. Originally a modest suburban house purchased in 1960 by artists Wayne and Barbara Chapman, the property was transformed throughout the 1970s in collaboration with Kellogg. Wayne acted as construction manager, sourcing utility poles and redwood, while Barbara shaped interiors. The roughly 3,900 sq ft, three-level residence features sculptural fireplaces, curvilinear forms, hand-carved timber doors, a ceramics studio, and Japanese-inspired gardens. Kellogg's organic architecture draws on Frank Lloyd Wright's principles but pushes into a biomorphic realm with structural elements evoking ribs, bones, shells, and geological formations. The listing follows the earlier sale of Kellogg's Kravis Residence and is handled by Keith York at Agents of Architecture.
