Kendalle Getty Turns ITEM IDEM Storefront Into a Hall of Mirrors in Paris
Kendalle Getty's exhibition titled "L'identification avec l'autre" debuted at ITEM IDEM in Paris during Art Basel Paris Week and will be on display until November 14, 2026. This exhibition reimagines the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles as a reflective environment that delves into themes of self-projection and alienation. It showcases a large sculpture, engraved mirrors, and sculptural self-portraits, along with modified household items. Getty interprets the mirror as a representation of identity influenced by social media, fashion, and cultural dislocation. Blending traditional French decorative arts with modern concepts, the exhibition also serves as a retail space, featuring editioned pieces from her M/other project and Angry Feminist Pin-Up series. Getty, who was born in Los Angeles in 1988, completed her studies at NYU in 2010 and became a board member of the Ann and Gordon Getty Foundation in 2012.
