Ken Harris Featured as Artist of the Week at Palmer Museum

Ken Harris was highlighted as Artist of the Week by the Palmer Museum on July 31, 2020. The feature showcased a selection of his watercolor paintings, including works titled 'Old Trunk Road in Winter,' 'Moose Tracks in the Snow,' 'Central California Late Afternoon,' 'Bogle Winery California,' 'Three Trees in January,' and 'The Lazy Mountain in Spring.' Harris is a California-based artist with familial connections to Alaska. He developed an interest in watercolor during his teenage years in Northern California. His artistic influences include Andrew Wyeth, San Francisco scene painters from the 1960s, French Impressionists, and watercolorists John Singer Sargent and J.M.W. Turner. Harris studied art at California community colleges and has maintained a lifelong practice alongside a career spanning over three decades as a graphic designer. His subject matter has evolved from French scenes and California vineyards and seascapes to include landscapes of the Matanuska Valley. He has also taught Watercolor, Drawing, and Painting at Vanguard University of Southern California for twelve years, in addition to offering private instruction. His professional and artistic pursuits have led him to live and paint in Brazil and Australia.
