On May 24, 2026, the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Quito unveiled Kawsay 1992: Por la tierra, por la vida, levantémonos, aligning with Ecuador’s national celebration of the Battle of Pichincha. This exhibition reflects on the 1992 March for Land and Life, during which Kichwa, Achuar, and Shiwiar groups marched over 500 kilometers to Quito to seek legal acknowledgment of their lands. Curated by TAWNA, PAKKIRU, PASSU, and the CAC, it showcases the works of eight Ecuadorian artists, including Nina Gualinga and Nancy Santi. Spanning Pabellones 3, 4, and Cuarto Rosa, the exhibition will be accessible until November 2026, promoting transformation and collaborative learning in light of ongoing Indigenous activism.
