KAWS redesigns Sacher-Torte box for charity

artist · 2026-06-05

American artist KAWS has created a limited-edition packaging for the Sacher-Torte, Austria's iconic chocolate cake, as part of the Sacher Artists' Collection charity initiative. The collectible box, limited to 1,000 units, is priced at €80 ($93) and available at Sacher hotels in Vienna and Salzburg and online. KAWS adapted his 2021 painting SPOKE TOO SOON, featuring his COMPANION character with crossed-out eyes and a Mickey Mouse-like silhouette, whose hands emerge from rubble. The artist, Brian Donnelly, said the project allowed him to support charity and added humor to the cake's concept.
