Katharina Sieverding Meets Joseph Beuys at Schloss Moyland

exhibition · 2026-10-20

The Museum Schloss Moyland, located in Bedburg-Hau, North Rhine-Westphalia, showcases an exchange between Katharina Sieverding and her mentor Joseph Beuys, steering clear of a traditional master-student framework. In 1967, Sieverding transitioned from costume and stage design studies in Teo Otto's class at Kunsthochschule Düsseldorf to Beuys's class, motivated by a tumultuous dress rehearsal at the Salzburg Festival and the tragic shooting of student Benno Ohnesorg. The exhibition includes Sieverding's "Love and Peace from Katharina" (1972) alongside Beuys's "We Are the Revolution" (1972). Curated by Alexander Grönert and Antje-Britt Mählmann, it also displays 30 previously unseen sketches from 1963-1967, with a second section highlighting anthropophagy, featuring Sieverding's installation "G.Z. I-VI" (2002) alongside Beuys's drawings.
