Katharina Busl's 'Nothing Up My Sleeve' at Paltz Biënnale Soest

Katharina Busl presents the site-specific installation 'Nothing Up My Sleeve' at Paltz Biënnale, held at Landgoed De Paltz in Soest, Netherlands, from May 9 to June 21, 2026. The work responds to the biennial's theme 'Date the Estate,' examining the site's layered history of theatrical staging—from 19th-century romantic follies and a simulated waterfall to WWII military camouflage and the contemporary art event. Busl uses agricultural plastic printed in military camouflage, draped as theater curtains tied to pine trees, metal trusses suspending sculptural forms resembling ears, speaker horns, and flowers, and a draped table with silicone face forms pressing through the fabric. The installation creates an uncanny atmosphere blurring the genuine and fabricated, making visible the management of landscape without dismantling it.
