Kasia Turajczyk: Where Memory, Music, and Myth Converge

Kasia Turajczyk, a Polish-born artist with German heritage, has developed a multidisciplinary practice shaped by her experiences in communist Poland and subsequent migration to England in 2010. Her work, which spans painting, drawing, and mixed media, is characterized by surreal narratives, symbolism, and a fusion of intellectual curiosity with emotional expression. Turajczyk's influences include Leonardo da Vinci, Salvador Dalí, Albrecht Dürer, Remedios Varo, Francisco Goya, Paul Cézanne, Japanese Ukiyo-e masters like Hiroshige, Polish painter Witold Wojtkiewicz, and Anselm Kiefer. Notable works include 'The Loony Bin of Life,' a symbolic surreal painting featuring Pinocchio as a central figure, and 'My Brain: The Conversation with My Cosmos,' an abstract mixed-media piece made with found materials. Turajczyk is currently developing a new series titled 'Chromatic Counterpoint: The Polyphonic Canvas,' which aims to translate her relationship with music into visual language, combining figurative imagery with structural abstraction and incorporating portraits of composers, musical notation, and multilingual texts. Her practice is guided by curiosity, patience, and a deep engagement with history and culture.
