Karin Park Releases Haunting Single 'Sing Your Sorrow' from Upcoming EP Trilogy

Swedish electronic musician Karin Park has released the first single and music video for 'Sing Your Sorrow,' the lead track from her forthcoming EP 'EVO.' The EP is scheduled for release on May 8 through Size Records and represents the initial part of a trilogy titled 'EVO-LUT-ION-(EN).' The project explores themes of personal transformation, artistic freedom, and self-discovery. Park described the atmospheric electronic pop song as an emotional expression written for her daughter, Lydia, conveying a wish to bear the emotional weight of others. The accompanying visual piece was directed by Simon Silverdahl, who characterized the collaboration as magical and effortless, resulting in romanticized imagery rooted in their local environment. Park's new creative direction draws inspiration from Swedish painter Hilma af Klint, whose mystical works and concept of evolution resonate with the artist. Park's musical foundation stems from a childhood immersed in melancholic Swedish hymns, which she cites as fundamental to her songwriting approach. Her artistic evolution has transitioned from guitar-based compositions to a distinctive blend of synth-pop, experimental electronica, and darker industrial sounds. For this EP series, she is pursuing a solo path distinct from her previous collaborative projects, including her work with the noise rock band Årabrot. The recording process for 'EVO' involved French producer Anthony Belguise, with Park noting an exceptionally fluid and dynamic creative flow where songs transformed significantly during production. Her current sound incorporates analog textures with influences from house, techno, synthwave, and UK garage, creating what she describes as deep, dark, playful Swedish electronic pop. Through this music, Park aims to encourage listeners to reconnect with their authentic selves amidst life's complexities. The single 'Sing Your Sorrow' has been featured as a highlight of the week, underscoring Park's ongoing artistic development and her profound engagement with music as a medium for emotional and transformative expression.
