Kamil Kukla's 'Silva' at Pani Domu Blurs Forest and Decay

Pani Domu, an artist-operated gallery located in a former apartment in Poznań, showcases 'Silva,' a solo exhibition by Polish artist Kamil Kukla, curated by Krzysztof Mętel and Mateusz Piestrak, from April 24 to May 17, 2026. The gallery's walls are intentionally left partially stripped, exposing layers of paint reminiscent of tree rings, which enhances the exhibition's narrative on decay. Kukla's oil paintings, including 'Cover' (160 × 180 cm, 2026), 'Reclining' (190 × 230 cm, 2025), 'Wood' (170 × 100 cm, 2025), 'Pit' (170 × 44 cm, 2026), 'Ewa' (130 × 130 cm, 2026), and 'Evening' (50 × 70 cm, 2026), portray forests where bodies and debris intertwine. An untitled floor sculpture (130 × 40 × 45 cm, 2025) crafted from polystyrene foam, polymer gypsum, and acrylic simulates erosion without the risk of decay. Gouaches on paper, such as 'UV POV' (50 × 70 cm, 2024) and another untitled piece (100 × 70 cm, 2025), further explore this theme. Kukla's wall text, translated by Soren Gauger, illustrates a forest filled with rubber and plastic that a body consumes and expels, while quoting Charles Baudelaire's 'Correspondances' to reinterpret nature as an impatient temple. The exhibition concludes on May 17, 2026.
