K'ab Juun Expands Roster with Five Mexican Design Studios

This fall, K'ab Juun, a gallery-boutique located in New York's Meatpacking District and established by Ilana Goldberg and Dafna Puszkar from Mexico City, celebrates its first anniversary by welcoming five new design studios. Opened in 2025, the gallery seeks to elevate Mexican design alongside that of Milan and Copenhagen. Goldberg, who operates her own interiors studio, and Puszkar, a former logistics executive, blend narrative and material focus with operational rigor, creating a space reminiscent of both an artist's studio and a salon. The new studios include Acoocooro, led by Martín Diego Salido-Orcillo, which investigates aesthetic narratives through stone and palm weave; Amalgame, focusing on territory and ceramic culture; BASA Atelier, emphasizing material exploration; Comité de Proyectos, collaborating with local artisans on metal and wood sculptures; and Ollin, inspired by Mexica transformation philosophy. Throughout the fall, pieces from these studios will be showcased, culminating in November with a solo exhibition by Bandido Studio, a Puebla-based lighting designer celebrating its tenth anniversary. K'ab Juun, meaning 'hand' and 'unique' in Mayan, underscores its commitment to craftsmanship rooted in Mexico's rich heritage.
