Jumex Museum Opens Soccer History Exhibit Ahead of 2026 World Cup

Ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Mexico City's Jumex Museum presents 'Objects of Glory: Iconic Moments in the History of Football,' an exhibition revisiting the sport's most iconic moments and figures. Created in partnership with Qatar Museums and the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, the show bridges past and present, myth and actuality. Items on display include a hand-painted leather football from the 1888 FA Cup Final, an 1893 rule book, Pelé's cleats from the 1970 World Cup, a replica of the Jules Rimet Cup, Diego Maradona's jersey from the 1986 'Hand of God' match, and Honey Thaljieh's 2020 jersey from Palestine's first Women's National Team. The exhibition opens July 10, 2026, a day before the inaugural match at Azteca Stadium, and runs through August 30. Admission is free. A concurrent contemporary art exhibit, 'Football & Art: A Shared Emotion,' is also on view at the museum.
