Julia Santa Olalla Opens F2 Galería's Season with 'Hay un vencejo volando dentro'
F2 Galería in Madrid has launched its new season with a solo exhibition by Julia Santa Olalla titled 'Hay un vencejo volando dentro,' on view from September 10 to October 24, 2026. The show also marks the gallery's 12th anniversary since its founding. In an accompanying text, Carlos Gor describes Santa Olalla's painting as operating from a place where the universe folds, a horizon of events of the nearby world that connects to another realm where the viewer's subconscious is engaged. He notes that her work features spheres, windows, and shadows as magical or mystical elements that open portals to other places, along with surfaces that generate reflections or trap something inside, and naif decorations that acquire magical qualities when rescaled or lit differently. Gor refers to these as 'objetos de gusano' (worm objects), which can be equivocal reflections, processual coincidences, or phantasmagorical apparitions, allowing an experience akin to what a fortune teller might feel when gazing into a crystal ball. The exhibition is part of F2 Galería's programming, which previously hosted a show by Cachito Vallés (Sevilla, 1986) titled 'El más largo viaje' and the collective exhibition 'COUCHSURFING' curated by Estudio Bonavista at Espiral (C/ Luis Oliag, 43). Other recent exhibitions include Inma Herrera's 'UN GESTO SENCILLO' and a reflection on the relevance of painting today.
