Juan Asensio Explores Nature and Geometry in 'Apenas transitar' at Galería Elvira González
In Madrid, Galería Elvira González is set to showcase 'Apenas transitar', marking the eleventh solo exhibition of sculptor Juan Asensio (born in Cuenca, 1959). This event coincides with the APERTURA Madrid Gallery Weekend 2026. The exhibition features 20 sculptures and builds on his earlier shows, 'Verba naturae' and 'Contra natura'. Asensio's artistry delves into the interplay between geometry and nature, transitioning from geometric forms to organic expressions. The title signifies his recognition of life's fleeting nature amidst the intricacies of the natural world. The display comprises two distinct series: sculptures with defined shapes and those inspired by thistles. A self-taught artist, Asensio studied under Jorge Oteiza and others, winning the XX Certamen de Artes Plásticas de Caja Madrid in 1996, with his works held in global collections.
