JPMorgan Asset Management Forecasts 10% Annual Bitcoin Returns, Topping Stocks, Gold and REITs
According to JPMorgan Asset Management's 2027 Long-Term Capital Market Assumptions, Bitcoin is anticipated to lead four asset classes with a projected annualized compound return of 10% over the next 10 to 15 years. In comparison, US real estate investment trusts are expected to yield 8.2%, US large-cap equities 7.5%, and gold 5.5%. The firm also predicts an arithmetic average annual return of 20.9% for Bitcoin, alongside an annualized volatility of 55%. Despite these projections, JPMorgan has refrained from including Bitcoin in its primary covariance matrices due to its volatility and inconsistent asset correlations. Bitwise's Matt Hougan acknowledged the forecasts on X, while JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon has previously criticized Bitcoin, labeling it a fraud in 2017 and comparing it to a Ponzi scheme. Data from Santiment indicates that investment funds have held over 1 million BTC for months, although this does not necessarily indicate new demand. It’s important to note that JPMorgan's projections are assumptions rather than guaranteed outcomes.
