Joyce Pensato Retrospective Opens at Deichtorhallen Hamburg, First Major European Show Since Her Death

The Deichtorhallen in Hamburg will open "Joyce Pensato – Eyes for you" on 5 October, marking the first larger-scale European presentation of the New York artist's work since her death. Pensato, who lived from 1941 to 2019, built her reputation on artistic transformations of popular figures including Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and characters from "The Simpsons." Her practice later expanded to encompass installations, collages and the painting of objects. The exhibition remains on view until 4 April 2027. A photograph of the artist is credited to Jason Mandella. The show is covered by Volker Sievert for kulturnews.
