Joshua Vides Transforms Vintage Cars into 2D Comic Book Drawings at Petersen Museum
Joshua Vides showcases his first museum exhibition, "Flat Out: The Art of Joshua Vides," at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles from June 20, 2026, to July 5, 2027. The artist has transformed five vintage cars, including a Ferrari 308 GTS, Porsche 944, and De Tomaso Longchamp, into striking 2D comic book drawings using his unique "Reality to Idea" technique with bold black lines. The entire Armand Hammer Foundation Gallery has been creatively altered, featuring hand-painted wheels, mirrors, gas pumps, and a vending machine. The installation took nine days to complete, with insights from Vides and executive director Terry L. Karges.
