Joshua Ewusie's Spring 2027 Collection 'In Lieu of Flowers' Explores Migrant Home Aesthetics
Joshua Ewusie, a designer based in London, showcased his spring 2027 collection titled In Lieu of Flowers, which draws inspiration from the experiences of migrant families. A graduate of Central Saint Martins and a recipient of the British Fashion Council's NEWGEN award, Ewusie looked to his Ghanaian heritage and Michael McMillan's work, The Front Room. His collection explores the tension between kitsch and taste, incorporating laser-cut leather and dyed tablecloth fabrics into structured PVC garments. Notable features included lime green piping on an aubergine silk skirt and a deconstructed tuxedo jacket adorned with oversized leather flowers. The debut of a braided leather bag complemented the collection, which also featured an exhibition curated by Ewusie and Cynthia Igbokwe, highlighting emerging artists. Currently, Ewusie serves as Fashion Designer in Residence at The King’s Foundation with Chanel.
