José Lévy Unveils New Les Endiablés Crystal Collection for Saint-Louis
Multidisciplinary artist José Lévy has launched a new series of Les Endiablés crystal objects for the historic French crystal manufacturer Saint-Louis. The collection, characterized by whimsical forms and vibrant colors, includes pieces that can function as vases, cups, candlestick holders, or sculptures. Lévy, a Paris-based creator and Knight of the French Order of Arts and Letters, initially introduced Les Endiablés in 2011, and this latest release extends his collaborative work with the maison. In an interview, Lévy explained that the project originated from a spontaneous creative burst, leading him to design eight items instead of the three vases originally commissioned. He emphasized that his process is driven by curiosity and a playful spirit. The collection features a palette of chartreuse, amethyst, flannel gray, deep greens, and vibrant blues, chosen to interact with light and enhance the pieces' dynamic qualities. Lévy described the objects as 'crystal dolls' where color plays a narrative role, amplifying the freedom and playfulness central to the design. The artist is also serving as creative director for the France pavilion at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka. The Les Endiablés collection continues to challenge traditional categorization, blending artistic expression with functional design in hand-cut crystal.
