Jolly Kunjappu on Painting Peace, Love, and Freedom

artist · 2026-06-24

Jolly Kunjappu, an artist from India now living in Germany, kicked off his painting career in April 1990. His journey began at a workshop in Munich for artists with disabilities, where someone challenged him about not painting. That same year, he created a piece related to the Berlin Wall, and his artwork "Dancing to Freedom" is now displayed at the Eastside Gallery in Berlin. Kunjappu describes himself as an emotional and spontaneous painter who follows his feelings. He has only three upcoming works planned for 2026: "FREEDOM," "PEACE," and "LOVE." His artwork "PEACE" will be on the cover of eXperimenta magazine's May 2026 edition, following an interview from December 2025. Additionally, he’s producing a documentary named "Peace On Earth" and will exhibit his work in Bingen, Germany, on June 20, 2026.
