Johnny Depp Unveils First Sculpture at Contemporary Istanbul, Joining Wave of Celebrity Artists
On September 22, the Contemporary Istanbul fair introduced Johnny Depp's inaugural sculpture, titled The Bunnyman. This two-meter-tall figure, crafted from white bronze and inspired by a drawing from Depp's son, Jack, is situated outdoors at the historic Ottoman shipyards along the Golden Horn. Depp has been creating art since the early 2000s, with his pieces featured in various venues, such as the Museum of Modern Art Shanghai's 'A Bunch of Stuff' and the 'Paciderm' exhibition scheduled for March 2025. In 2022, his Friends & Heroes series earned 3.5 million euros. Additionally, other celebrities like Jim Carrey and Sylvester Stallone have also ventured into the art world, along with politicians like George W. Bush and Laurent Fabius.
