Jocelyn Bain Hogg's 'The Firm' Gangster Photos Exhibited at Leica Gallery London
Jocelyn Bain Hogg's photographic series 'The Firm,' documenting the British criminal underworld in the 1990s, is on view at Leica Gallery London from July 11 to September 3. Commissioned in 1997 by Elle magazine to photograph a journalist meeting two known villains, Bain Hogg gained unprecedented access by bonding with a villain over parenthood and whisky at a Soho club. He continued the project for three years after a month-long commission for Japanese GQ, capturing unposed, candid images. The prints, taken from his original Kodak archive boxes, bear his stamps, signature, and handwritten notations, adding archival significance. The series was previously published as a book.
